Gumtree Pay now supports shipping, so you can include your shipping cost, add your tracking details for integrated delivery updates, and keep funds secure with Gumtree whilst your item is in transit.
Sell your item faster by offering buyers the convenience of flexible payment methods, backed by 24/7 support from Gumtree for extra peace of mind. If you’re selling, there are just a couple of additional steps to get your payment account set up.
Payments made with Gumtree Pay are processed securely through Adyen, a globally trusted payment provider. No need to share personal details with strangers or follow unknown links.
Whether shipping or arranging local pickup, Gumtree Pay allows you to transact securely for extra peace of mind for both buyer and seller. Payments are held securely via Gumtree until the buyer has had the chance to inspect it and confirm receipt, or otherwise are automatically released after 3 days.
When making a purchase with Gumtree, there is no initial setup required. There is only a setup required if you are a seller receiving money. Click here to read about seller setup.
When you’re ready to pay, tap the banner at the top to make an offer with Gumtree Pay. You can submit the listed amount, or a lower price if the listing is negotiable. Your offer will be valid for 24 hours. The seller may either accept your offer and send you a payment request, or they may send a counter offer.
Once you’ve agreed on an amount (including shipping cost if required), the seller will send you a payment request, just click ‘Pay seller’ to accept it.
Safety Tip: You will only receive a payment request via the button in your messages. If a seller is asking you to pay via a link or QR code, it may be fraudulent.
When using Gumtree Pay, you can either opt for local pickup or request shipping.
If the item is being shipped, you have 3 days from the day delivery to inspect your item and confirm before the payment is released.
If you have arranged for local pickup, make sure you have inspected the item and are satisfied before confirming payment.
When you pay through Gumtree Pay and request your item to be delivered via the shipping feature within Gumtree Pay, you may be eligible for protection under our Gumtree Pay with Protected Shipping policy.
Once you have made your payment, the seller has 3 days to ship the item using one of our Approved Delivery Providers. Your funds will be securely held until you have had a chance to inspect the item, and you will receive delivery updates via Gumtree.
Once the item is delivered, you have 3 days to inspect the item and release the funds. If the item has not arrived or there is another issue, you have 3 days to raise a dispute. If you do not act within 3 days, your payment will be released automatically.
PayTo
PayTo is a new payment method within Gumtree Pay offered by Australian banks. It’s the fastest to process and allows you to pay directly from your bank account after approving a PayTo agreement within your bank’s app or online banking. Read More about PayTo

When selling with Gumtree Pay, there are a couple of initial steps to get started.
If you haven’t already, you’ll need to opt in to Gumtree Pay before you can send a payment request.
Once this is complete you won’t need to do it again. We recommend setting up your payment account at the same time, so you’re ready to receive funds.
Before you send a payment request, you will need to agree with the buyer if you will ship the item or arrange for local pickup.
If you are shipping, make sure to agree on a shipping price prior to sending the request. How to calculate shipping
If a buyer hasn’t already sent you an offer, you can initiate a transaction by tapping the banner at the top of your messages to send a payment request.
If you haven’t already, you’ll need to set up your bank account once you’ve sent the payment request in order to receive funds.
If you’ve done this once, you won’t need to do it again.
If you are arranging local pickup, the buyer will be required to confirm they have inspected the item before paying via their chosen payment method.
If you are shipping the item, the buyer will make the payment straight away and funds will be held until the item arrives and they have had the chance to inspect it.

Provided the payment is received and you have completed the Gumtree Pay account set up, your money will be sent to the nominated bank account within 3-5 days. If you have any issues or questions, contact our 24/7 support team for assistance.
The new Gumtree Pay Shipping feature allows you to ship with peace of mind. When you sell using Gumtree Pay and ship using an approved delivery provider selected from the Shipping feature within Gumtree Pay, you may be eligible for protection under our Gumtree Pay with Protected Shipping policy.
In order to be covered, you must comply with the required criteria. Ensure you familiarize yourself with the Gumtree Pay with Protected Shipping Policy for Sellers.
For sellers, there is a platform fee charged at 0.5% of the transaction amount, with a minimum cap of 50c and a maximum cap of $7.50. This will automatically be collected when a buyer makes a payment and includes GST. Read more about Gumtree Pay fees
